For me - Labor Day marks the end of summer and the time to start preparing for the winter months ahead. Other than the long cold snowy months, my big problem is not being able to use my smoker. Sometimes it's just too cold. With my old smoker, I couldn't hold temp.
I'm not sure how my MBXL will do. Any ideas for a practical and safe way to get my gas smoker out of the weather ?? in the Garage ? Basement ? Venting ?
Having withdrawals already !

Don't know how big your smoker is, but my son found this last year, on sale at Home Depot.

His MES 40 fits in real good.

I have seen lots of ways that guys do it, it all depends how far you're willing to go. Myself, I bought an electric smoker last Thanksgiving and used it every weekend during the Winter. Go for it!

I am in the mountains and smoke all year round. With the propane you will be good thru the cold months. If you want to insulate it a bit get some welding blankets and wrap the smoker in in. Be sure not to block the air intakes on it. If you have more questions let me know.

Well down here I am very glad to see summer come to an end...of course our winters are not as bad as yours....Looks like Bear has your answer if yours will fit...Great idea Bear !!!!

Thanks for the ideas and support. I really like the storage unit idea that Bear sent. I'm not sure if my Masterbuilt XL will fit.
Bear -- can you post the inside dementions of your unit ? That would be a big help.

Beautiful here today and tomorrow -- got two butts - a small brisket - some chicken wings and all the makings for a Fatti !!

I can't wait for tomorrow !!!!!

Thanks again all,

Pars,

That won't do you much good, because they have so many different size storage units. I think that one was about 48" high.

The other thing is, they are pretty expensive, unless you find one on sale, like my son did, and the one on sale fits your smoker.

Keep your eyes open for sales at places like HD & Lowes.

I actually prefer to do most of my "Q" in the colder months.

The cold isn't the problem, its the wind.
