Hey.

I am ready to build a smoker from an old LP 100gal L.P. tank. I have read the best way to cut is to fill with H20 until it comes out the top. and then start the cutting.

Seems to be a good option since the water will displace any residual gas.

Any thoughts on this method?

Thanks.

Use Dawn dish washing soap as well. It will dislodge the propane trapped in the pitted metal. Have access to a fire hydrant? It will take a while to fill that sucker up with a garden hose. What do you plan on cutting the tank with? You will want your water line to be just below where you are making your cut. Electrical devices + water = trips to the hospital.

One other option is you can hook a hose up to the exhaust of a vehicle and run that into the propane tank to displace the oxygen while making your cuts.

Good luck!
