Howdy, folks!  My name is Ed, livin' (in this HEAT) down here in Corpus Christi.  Just picked up a MES 40" from Academy.  I've always wanted one of these and juggled my research between this and the Bradley product.  I like the idea of using chips over pucks because I can ALWAYS get mesquite chips.

I've pit-smoked my share of briskets and pork butts but, in my "advancing" age, I'm trying to take it easy(er) now.  Spending a full day tending to a firebox is getting less and less appealing, especially in the summertime.

Looking forward to reading/learning from this site.  Give me a holler if you're in the area!

Grew up in Freer but lived in Corpus for several years.  I miss Baffin Bay like you would never know.  Corpus is the home of Breakfast Tacos I was a Army recruiter in the old Sunrise Mall across from the Old Arcade for 3 years love that city consider it home.  Heck my wife is from Refugio don't know how we wound up in Houston (Stupid Job Market).  Sorry to hear about Joe Cottons but I know there is better Que in Corpus anyway.  Use to go to this old joint behind the Court House that had some Damn Good Brisket.  Well Welcome to the site.  I own a MES 40 as well as sevral other smokers and everyone here is very friendly.

Spring, TX? DANG! You're in a PRETTY area of the state. Yeah, I spent a lot of time in "Aladdin's Castle"....oh....gads, I don't even want to say how long ago.  We still have great breakfast tacos, though - and some pretty good local tamale joints, too!  Thanks for the response.  I'll be doing a LOT of R&D on the MES 40.  Now to find some good deals on briskets & butts!
