Is charcoal on the comeback for grillers? I`ve noticed more sales on kingsford (my choice)  with sales on charcoal grills/smokers.I`m a charcoal guy 100%,I`ve seen this new fangled infared grill. Now theres a three way battle for grillers to argue aboot fastest and better flavor.I don`t care how long it takes charcoal to light in my chimney, the taste of whatever I`m cooking is worth it the wait.

I think lump is the new big thing .Charcoal been around the south forever.

You just don't understand charcoal has been around the south for ever.Just recently they want 100% natural no binders no B.S.Why would i cook a all free range or minimally processed piece of meat with glue wood.I don't think you should sniff glue or cook with glue.Their are more lumps than ever.

Which company sells no binder briquettes? I looked around on google and only found The WHIZ testing 3 kinds of "all natural" that does contain starch as a binder and the kingsford uses starch and borax.

 Here's the test...http://www.nakedwhiz.com/productreviews/kingsfordcompetition/kingsfordcompetition.htm

Have a great day!!

You need to reread my first post comercial available100% natural lump is the new thing.Briquettes have binders and fillers to hold them together. That the old school way of sub par scrap wood disposal it was on the history channel at kings ford.Lump takes larger wood so more heart of the wood .Less scrap wood or bark and fillers and binders.

Sorry I didn't see that on your first post...  #4.

The only crappy lump I have ever seen was cowboy and it wasn't all that bad.

>>>>"That the old school way of sub par scrap wood disposal it was on the history channel" ....Wasn't that "Dirty Jobs" on the Discovery Channel        ?????

  Have a great day!!

Gentlemen, you are both right in one aspect.  Hold on, the earth is still trembling at this discovery.  There was an episode on History Channel about how it's made and also on Dirty jobs where our hero visited a very backwoods area and did everything from cleaning to sewing the lump into bags.  Both episodes were very enlightening.

Hey, let's all have a great weekend and go smoke something.

Craig i like a open debate about anything. Was raised no blood no foul and your not mad till you a ready to bare knuckle box.Did not mean to sound hostile.

I like charcoal, prefer lump but the only lump I can find is Cowboy!  I don't like Cowboy and here is why...I open a bag of Cowboy lump charcoal and I find floor boards...that's right, old floor boards, which are normally treated with some type of chemicals.

I have a question for the group....I live in Central Virginia (just South of Richmond), does anyone know where I can find some Royal Oak lump?

WalMart.

Dang!  That's what I was afraid of.  I HATE Wal-Mart and refuse to shop there

.  I guess I'll ask my babydoll to pick some up for me on her next run.

WalMart is where I found it too.  I also walked into Kmart the other day and saw they had two kinds of RO lump.  I forget what the other was but they had the RO from the USA.

Charcoal here to.

Use R Oak, BGE, AFIRE Coconut lump, Special Blend, Ozark lump and Wicked Good weekend warrior lump.
