The better half had Lunch at Sweet Lucy's Smokehouse and had the Pulled Pork, her words were "Your Barbecue is much better... much, much better", I replied, Wow! the Pulled Pork was that bad, Huh, she replied, No it was good, but yours is so much better!

I don't know if shes buttering me up for something...but I'll take it.

That made me feel good, so apparently I am doing something right.

I think that sometimes we don't give ourselves enough credit where credit is due.

I need to try this place out

Well if your wife is like mine that's a great compliment, because mine would tell me if Lucy's was better, and from the sound of it yours would too. That's awesome sqwib!!!

Great compliments, but I would stay alert for awhile!

Hmmmm, could also be the start of your rewards for her new kitchen????

Great job man - like Bear said, this may be something to do with that new kitchen leading to a new bathroom and a remodel in the Master Suite LOL - seriously good work

You may be right, she might be buttering you up for something, but I bet she really does like your Q better. My wife went to the Tampa Bay Ray's opening day game and they had a new BBQ restaurant at the stadium called Everglades BBQ Smokehouse. She ordered the BBQ Brisket sandwich and said it cost $14.00 and had like 3 small pieces of brisket on the sandwich. I realize its in a stadium but dang $14.00 for a sandwich with almost no meat. She tells me I bet you could make some money at this, your Q is better than theirs. So I tell her, "You want to know how to make a small fortune in the BBQ business?" "Start with a large fortune!"

I agree with Teddy. We are all so humble & our own biggest critic. I smoked a ham for Easter that was gone in 48 hours that everyone is still talking about. I still think it was the worst ham I ever made. I barley ate it I was so disappointed? They said it was the best?

You know what the problem is? We sit here all day and look at the delicious food that everyone else makes on here & think that ours is not quite as good as we want it to be. Which may not be a bad thing, because it has us all trying to make the perfect meal. I hope I never think that I made the perfect PP, rack of ribs, or brisket, etc. If I did, then what's next?

This doesn't suprise me SQWIB.

Your cooking always looks fabulous!

This place sure has ruined eating at Q shacks...that's for certain.

Sounds like you have a following...

But I would still listen for the other shoe to drop...LOL

If she ain't buttering you up for a bathroom remodel after that kitchen remodel, then I'm sure she will bank it for a future "honey do" item..... lol.

I know I have ruined BBQ resteraunts for my entire family. They all call me up after paying way to much for some substandard Que and tell me how much better mine is.... lol. Heck... I'm just happy if I can keep up with Al and Bear, two old geezers putting this youngster to shame.

I don't have to compete with nearby "Q" joints---There aren't any that I know of, unless you count Red Lobster, Applebees, Outback, or something along that line, when they serve a rack of Baby Backs. LOL

I never had good smoked "Q", until after I signed in to this forum. That's why I feel I must pay it back by helping others.

If I can learn how here, anybody can!

Backyard is alway's better no matter what. Chain places use prepared everything which include's ingredients that you can't pronounce. Nice job SQWIB!

I was getting some (uncooked) brauts at a local store that makes them fresh every morning. One of the guys who works behind the counter used to work at a nearby bbq joint, so I asked a couple of questions. One of the questions that I asked was whether they cooked by meat temp or if they went by time. They went by time. That's one difference between what I bet most joints do and what people on here do. I'm not surprised, really. I'd wager that you put more care into getting things right than they do and I bet you also like to learn new things about bbq. I doubt some kid working for a little more than minimum wage cares that much.

Depends---We generally do ribs by time (3-2-1 or 2-2-1, etc), so if he was talking about ribs...............
