Eventhough I pretty much stopped buying from Albertsons, they have an awesome sale on bone in Prime Rib Roasts.  4.77 a pound!  They look great too.  Wife gave me permission to buy one.  Cant wait to smoke this bad boy!  Whooooo Hooooo

Not sure if this is just in our state or not, but might be worth looking into!

Now thats a great price and I would have to buy it at that price. Just yesterday I saw bone-in and boneless at Wally World for 5.09 lb and 5.29lb and I almost bought them. Wally World here doesn't have the greatest looking meat to me.

Agreed.   Bought some "Angus" burger at wally world the other day because I didn't want to go to multiple stores thinking it would be safe, and even that was some of the worst I have ever tasted..  These roasts from albertsons look good..  I'll be sure to post the Q tomorrow evening for a taste report

That is a good find. Enjoy!

We have a Cash N Carry (United Grocers) he in Oregon that supplies the restaurants and stores and such.  If I wait they, will have 'Select' grade down to around 4.90ish soon.  They generally have a good sale right before Christmas.  Otherwise I hope Fred Meyer (Kroegers) will have something.

Has anyone else noticed that stores now days are passing beef 'breed' off as grade levels.  The local Fred Meyer store has the big Angus sale.  They pass it off at Choice and dare I say Prime prices but if you look carefully you will find in very small print the word  "usda-select"

Just busts my butt when they do that! ARRRRGH!

sorry for the vent.

That "Angus" label is driving me crazy, too.  I'm buying more and more meat at the real butcher shops, costs more but not that much more if you check in frequently and go with their specials.  For grocery stores, around here QFC is the most reliable meat but often more $ than safeway, alb's. freddy's.  The Mexican carnicerias can be a real find, I have a couple really good ones within 20 min. of my house.  Check them out!

That's a great price the best I have seen around me is 4.99 and you have to buy the whole thing about 20-25 lbs but even that sale doesn't happen very often but you can bet I stock up when it does come around

They have the same price on this side of the mountain.  It's labeled as "choice" beef.  The ad says limit 1, but I went in two days in a row and picked one up.  So far, I bought 30 pounds.

Bassman,

The roast I got was fantastic.  Wish I had money to stockpile a few more!  Butterknife tender, and great flavor.

Had me scared..   Went in to get a couple more, and they fortunately don't have a limit on this side.  Butcher figured they were just low on stock over there.

In the ad it said "limit 1".  I suppose if I were to pick up two or three, nobody would care.  Only problem is, I've already spent a fair amount.  Well, maybe just one more!

Hmmmm, could mean "Limit One for each hand" ?

At that price, how 'bout "One wheelbarrow load"?
