Hi everyone,

My name is Joe, I've been smoking for about 3 years (1 on a charcoal grill, 2 with a char-grill er with SFB). I do mostly ribs, brisket, and turkeys, but looking into expanding and going into clod smoking as well.

My big issue right now is keeping temps up without tons of white smoke, if I don't have a fire blazing in the SFB I can't get above 150, and that is with stick wood, so working on that, going to do some of the mods I have seen (mainly the dryer vent mod) on here and give it a good cleaning and re-season (it has never really been cleaned, everything I read said the "gunk" helped the flavor) and I'll hope it helps.

Welcome to the SMF, you should have some good replies from members who use your type of smoker. It's all good my friend.

Welcome to the SMF. Glad to have you here. Lots of good folks, great recipes and knowledge. Looking forward to your first qview.

Thank you all!! Meat eater, you will get a Q-view later this evening, set up a cold smoker IN the kitchen, quite the project!! And yes all it is near a window, on the stove, with two cookie sheets under it, and a fan blowing out the window!! I would have smoked it out back, but dogs got fed late and I am still cycling all 12 of them out to potty!

Hello!! More people than I thought in these parts, noticed quite a few OH PA people, and I thought I was a loner here!!

Welcome jojo,

Do you wear that suit when you feed the dogs?

Hey Bear, no, I don't need the suit for feeding, that picture I was actually just a distraction for a dog during an obedience routine. However it is done with 2 people in suits "provoking" the dog to bite, this ensures that the dog will listen to the owner rather than follow their own instinct! Luckily, the dog did not break command, as I forgot my cup and he likes to bite in that general area!!   I'll put up some video in the lounge/jokes section some time, protection training dogs is tons of fun!! And then I have my dog friends over for training days and show off the smoker skills!!

Well the smoking part sounds like fun, and I would not ever forget my cup!

I helped my brother coach Connie Mack Baseball for 28 years, and I can remember our catcher forgot his cup, and his mother jumped in her car & raced home (about 6 miles--to another small town) to get his cup, and raced back with it---Just in the nick of time. The Umps usually would check with a baseball bat---Lightly!

"Play Ball" was heard, instead of a forfeit !
