So this weekend was my true "Trail by Fire".  My first big smoke on a charcoal/wood smoker.  The occasion was a "Herf"... a term that cigar smokers use to refer to a gathering of cigar smokers.  We had about 15-20 of us get together and my place to smoke cigars, drink beer and EAT.  We made a fattie, some ABT's and 12 racks of ribs.

I'm still having issues with my temps getting up.  I tried lump charcoal but it didn't seem to do any better (maybe worse) than the Kingsford I'd been using - it was a store brand (Publix) and not sure how the quality is.  But with some work we got it done, and they must have been good because we had 20 people go silent when they were served.  Actually, everyone said the were excellent and I'd have to say that I agree.  I'll smoke some more and see what I can do to control those temps.

Looks as if a good time was had by all! Thanks for sharing the Q View. It's all good my friend.

All your food looks great !

Ribs look hammy, almost like they were cured a bit.

Thanks for the view,

Bear

Now looking at the leftovers I would say that the ribs were quite the hit. They sure looked YummO. How did everyone like the fattie they are usually a big hit too???

Everyone liked the fatttie a lot as well.  My buddy made that one up and personally I would have bacon-wrapped it but he didn't want to.  Can you even imagine NOT wanting to wrap something in bacon?!?!

That's some great looking Herf food!  There nothing like passing the time Qing with a nice drink and a good cigar!!  I hope the cigars were as good the food!

Definitely!  Over the course of 3 days we smoked some excellent cigars, it was an awesome weekend.

Looks Great Tim. I am actually a member over on the C4 website but have yet to make it to any Herfs yet. I live over in Stone Mountain and have 1 1/2 year old Twins, so it is tough for me to get over to Woodstock. I am new to smoking meat. I have do a few racks of ribs and several beer can chickens. I plan on smoking a couple racks this weekend. I will, of course, have a couple of Cain Cigars and cold beer to keep me company. Good to see you on this site.

Hey Greg, good to see you over here!  As you can see by the pics we did it up big time this weekend.  Hopefully you can make it to one of our C4 herfs soon, would be great to meet you.  We had such a great time this weekend that I think another Herfacue will be in the works soon.
