Here is a look at the box of sasafrass that I got from   bob 1961

I sent him a medium sized box of wood packed to the hilt also!

I cant wait...hopefully I will have my Gatorade smoker done by February when this is done drying.

My Little Miss SOB had to get in the pics.

She said the wood smelled gross!

I the background is the Gatorade cooler waiting for me to work on it this fall.

Thanks again Bob!

That is interesting - what does that wood taste like in a smoke?

I used some  for a basic jerky batch once and was suprised at the sweetness that the wood seemed to give it.

I only had a small amount at that time but now, after this is seasoned I can do some more tests.

Just the long wait now!

mark, that is an awesome score.  I gave the sasafrass you sent me to my dad to use in his propane smoker.  The WSN, USD, and offset eat to much wood for that to work for me.  He did some rivs and s chuckie with iy and said it was awesome.  I would love to get a biggef batch for the larger cookers.

sorry i missed this thread SOB, hope that wood was good enough....i open my shed and it smells grea i have a whole milk crate full yet....what is best to use that on....i used some of your peach on my 1st fatty with some apple too......bob

Here is a try for ya... take some sassafras chips and throw them in on the hot coals when your grilling a nice steak. Put the lid down or cover with a foil pan while your grilling. Gives steak an excellent flavor. Sassafras is great for pork of any kind especially loin or tender loin.
