Well I didn't get to make the Tri Tip but my buddie found two of them in town and cooked them up on this Big Green Egg. I though it was very good and it basically reminded me of a steak. He said he found them at Sams but they were already seasoned so he had to get them at a meat market in town that is known for being expensive. I really liked it and will probably try the recipe that he had if I spend the money on a Tri Tip. Sorry to disappoint you there is no Qview.

Well, at least you got to taste what we've been talking about. It's all good my friend.

Just got mine for six bucks and some change each.. one is a 1.52 lb and the other is 1.58 lb. Original price is 5.99 a lb.
Does everyone else pay top dollar for
I rarely pay full price for meat. If it's not on sale or in the clearance bin, it's too expensive.. I check the ads weekly and look for the stuff that's getting a little old and is put on manager's special.

Yea I always look for cheap meat when I am at the store. Luckily I didn't have to pay for these Tri Tips. haha

I think I read somewhere that consumption of Tri Tips is supposed to promote excellent Ligament Rehabilitation.

I have only had a tri-tip twice and that's only because a freinds of mine brought it back from a trip to Cali. So It didn't cost me anything. I mean they were good but just another steak to me at that time. I didn't know what I know now. But I would pay a good chunk for one for all the good stories I have heard about them from here.

The only two places i've seen it in my area is at Costco and a local butcher (though I did see a cut that looked like it came from a mini cow at some local grocer).  Some days im forced to spend 3.99/lb for it, though I usually get if for cheaper.  Im an idiot and usually throw a bunch of beef/pork rub on it even though I only smoke it for a few hours to med-rare. My next TT I will plan on doing a simple S&P and garlic powder rub.  I always smoke it pretty hot since I don't want it to dry out.  Also, I live in the greater Denver area.  I'm sure you could find it somewhere in or near the twin cities pretty cheap.  You might want to call first, but some grocers, outlets, and butchers may have it.
