Decided to celebrathe the beginning of the long weekend with a nice porterhouse. (Wife and kids wanted pizza, so this was all for me )

Nice and thick.

I coated in a layer of sea salt and pepper and let it sit for an hour, then rinsed and dried thoroughly.

On the little Weber with lump charcoal and a chunk of apple wood. (it was the only kind I had on hand and added a nice mellow background)

Steamed these in the microwave for a min then coated with olive oil and S&P.

Baby Potrabella mushrooms cooked in butter, garlic, onions, chicken stock and marsala wine. Awesome flavor.

Alittle of the mushroom marsala sauce on top. (I had to move the asparagus to make room)

It was at this point I put the camera down for good and dove in. A most excellent start to the weekend. Thanks for looking.

Nothing better than a nice steak off a charcoal grill, IMO. Really nice plate, I'm in love with your portabella mushroom sauce!!

Yes, I sprinkled them with parmesan cheese. Also forgot to mention I dusted the mushrooms with a little flour before I put them in the pan. Thickened up the sauce nicely. I took the leftover meat off the bone today, cut it up and made a nice burrito with cheddar cheese, sour cream, and the mushrooms. Just delicious.

Very nice did you put something on the asparagus after they came off the grill?

Sometimes the kids and the wife don't know what they want. Now that's a fine looking dinner you have there Doug. So now that you have eaten the monster steak you better cook something for the family for the rest of the weekend. I know maybe another pizza but this time on the smokers. Ellymae does them all the time. Great job on the steak to.

I'm waiting for a call from my brother-in-law to tell me to come and pick up some fresh haddock. He's out right now with my nephew and his brother-in-law about 25 miles off Plum Island, Massachusetts. There is nothing better than fresh haddock. When I say fresh I mean 3 hours ago it was swimming in the ocean and then it's swimming in butter in my belly. Also have a pork tenderloin I'm going to do something with and some beef short ribs. We are eating well this weekend.

OMG that looks so good!! Thats my favorite cut of steak too and you had a beauty!! would be great if you could share your marsala sauce recipie because it sure looks better than the one i make, please share cause im wanting some chicken marsala now lol

Sorry, I didn't see your last reply.

I didn't really measure anything, but this is what I did.

Heated a little butter and olive oil in a skillet. Throw in some chopped onions and garlic and let cook down for a few mins. Dusted the mushrooms lightly with flour and tossed them in the pan with a little more butter, salt and pepper and cook for a few more mins. Added a couple splashes of chicken stock and let it reduce for a few mins. Then added the marsala, about half a cup. Let this reduce until it gets to the consistency you like. If it's too thin you can add a little more flour. Thats it. Now I'm going to have to make this again soon myself. Good luck and post your results when you make it.

Yep...glad i saw this brought back up.  Im doing a nice steak for myself tonight as well to initiate the weekend camping.  Was going to pickup a Ribeye, but man that Porterhouse looks good.  Might sway my opinion, havent had a porterhouse in a long while.

What was that L word that you used?  Le...Left...Leftover?  Leftover meat?  Never heard of it!
