I left Friday night and headed out to the farm to pick up dad so he and I could travel up to Oklahoma and see Three Dog Night in concert. We had a BLAST and I think he's 10 years younger today than he was yesterday.

I dropped him off at the farm this morning and was back at my house by noon. As soon as I walked in the door, the bride informed me that she wanted me to make her some baby backs while I smoked the brisket.

Me: Brisket, what brisket? Her: The one for National Night Out! Me: Oh $#|+, I forgot!

NNO isn't until Tuesday, but I'm at a different plant tomorrow with an overnight stay and won't have near enough time when I get home. I'll smoke, cool a bit, vac pack, and refrigerate. The bride will warm it up on Tuesday on a low heat in a foil pan.

So, I'll be up late tonight smoking the below brisket, but we'll eat good later since the ribs should be done by 8.

Rib pics when done, I forgot to get the prep shots.

Gotta love the Oopps I forgot surprises. My wife and I saw Three Dog Night a couple of years ago in PA. They put on a great show and even at their age the remaining members still sound like back in the day...JJ

They were amazing! One of the best live shows I've ever been to.

Gonna be a late night, but I gotta feed the neighbors! :grilling_smilie:

Ribs are done. One rack eaten, one small bit packed for the elder across the street. One packed for travel, and the last partial bit packed to eat later in the week.

I ate mine with the finishing sauce I made last week. Not only good for PP, but ribs too!

Brisket pics at some point, the sucker is in the stall...

Those ribs look awesome!

Good lookin' vittles, CB. Every time I see your elf, it makes me think of the Usinger elves: iconic sausage company in Milwaukee since the 1800's that have elves as their mascots. This is our readymade go-to: my wife and M-I-L are 100% German, and swear this is as good as the motherland. Pre-cooked, fresh, Cajun, Andouille, apple & gouda, applewood bacon, you name it--good as it gets. Every couple of months, we'll swing through their storefront and load up.

HA!  My wife ordered him for me, she said he looks like I would if I were a gnome.  He's been dubbed Cranky Gnome around the house.

I know what you mean about finding a GOOD sausage supplier!  I don't get up to Muenster, TX very often, but when I do, I visit 3 different meat markets there.  LOTS of really good German sausages to make one's mouth water.

Looks awesome cb! The elf is cool! Me and lauren are leaving this morning on a camping trip and will be doing some usinger brats. Groucho we live about 45 minutes away from usingers, great place!

What a great smoke, Cranky! I would be happy doing either the ribs or the brisket but both is a sign of a master! Points.
