Hey guys and gals, just a quick hello to introduce myself. First time smoker here..

I've been reading the forums for a while now through Google searches while investigating my first smoker. I live in a small apartment and decided on a pellet, GMG DC. It's scheduled for delivery next Wed, I'm stoked!

I also have an amazen tube in hand, rub prepared, making a 2nd grill rack this weekend, spritzer bottle, pellets of course, and I'm currently reviewing an added thermometer. Oh, and beer is always in the fridge. Anything missing off hand?

Anyways, I wanted to extend a thank you to all those posting out there. Your posts made it very easy to prepare as I'm a research junkie.. much appreciated!

My first bbq will be next weekend, I'm still trying to decide what to make. I'm thinking a brisket and a pork butt or 2. We'll see..

Thanks again, have a nice weekend..

Welcome from SC. It's really good to have you here on this great site. There are a lot of fine folks here who are always eager to share their ideas, recipes and tips. All you have to do is ask and keep reading.

Be really careful about a large quantity of meat for a first smoke. Get familiar with your cooker and cook something small and inexpensive. Go bigger when you're more comfortable.

Good luck and good smokin', Joe. :grilling_smilie:

What Joe said...
Why don't you start with one butt to see how your smoker works?

Thanks for the tip. Ya, lots of excitement brewing, I want to cook twenty things.

Welcome to SMF and congrats on you purchase. I bet you can't wait to get it and want it now

Get some brats of something that is quick like wings so no matter the time you can cook it up on that smoker.

Welcome to SMF, to add what others have said, give yourself enough extra time, an hour or 2 at least after your smoke so if things go longer and the BBQ is not quite done you wont get in a rush and feel pressured.

When you can relax and have fun it makes it much more enjoyable.

Have fun and post some pics of that mochine and meat action!

I feel that way every weekend!

Ya gotta cool the jets!  Like others have said, get familiar with your smoker and take things a step at a time. Glad you joined us!
