Hey everyone I'm 4 month's new to the smoking world and loving every minute of it.
Smoking meat is quite the art wayyyyy different then a regular gas grill.
Spent a lot of money learning to do this so I figured I'd become part of a forum to learn faster and save money because I spent quite a bit trying to do it myself.

It's true you can eat your mistakes which are delicious. I saw myself wasting money on meat thinking smoking would be similar to slow cooking on the BBQ. I stumbled upon this website from googling smoking meat. One of the best websites I've come across.
A lot of websites were very prejudice to Canadians so I didn't bother with them. So thanks again.

Thinking about smoking some Ribs on Thursday.
I'm going to use Applewood
And probably one dry and one wet rub.
Any suggestions on temperature and would be appreciated.
And there pork ribs.

There are people here who swear on anything from 225f to 300f and they all work. I think I'd shoot for 240 to start with. I think a lot has to do with where your smoker is comfortable (Mine likes 260 to 280. Usually.) You'll find your sweet spot after a few cooks.

Apple is great for almost anything!

Hello everybody.
It's been awhile since I've been on the forum busy with summer camping fishing family events and such. But I'm back today with a little me time to drink beer and smoke some meat. Today on the smoker will be 3 1/2lb Angus roast with a nice dry rub. Not very marbled but it'll have to do for today. Probably going to use Jack Daniel's woodchips there my favorite.
 
Hey everybody soon in Canada it's going to be Thanksgiving and I would like todo a dummy turkey so I know what I'm doing and my wife doesn't go hungry that day. So I bought a 13 pound turkey and I'm thinking about using Pecan and Applewood to smoke just wondering what temperature and for how long?
All responses will be greatly appreciated

Welcome CG. No problems with CAN here. Heck, Windsor, ON is practically a suburb (due south) of Detroit. ;-)

As a long time smoker not fond of "anti-social media," I recently became a Newbie here because this forum is a definite exception to the rule. SM nailed it saying this is "Just a bunch of folks who love to cook and talk about it."

(BTW, SM was also spot on regarding the Junkies —not mention The Hip —a GREAT band [IMHO] on either side of the border.)
