I was wondering if anyone has used their main smoke chamber as a grill? I have charcoal racks at the bottom. Not sure if the coals would be close enough to cook the food. Just wondering in case I ever have to do a bunch of hamburgers and hot dogs

What smoker do you have?

If you take the middle section off my WSM & put a grate on the bottom section,

it can easily be used as a grill.

I have Oklahoma Joe Highlander. It has grates in the main chamber. I'll have to give it a try.

When I bought my CG Pro, I envisioned using it as both a smoker and a grill. Didn't like it as a grill. Guess I was recalling the old Char Broils that were so great until that company went to hell.  Now I have a dedicated smoker and the 30 plus year old Weber kettle is still does all the grilling.

Good luck and good smoking.

I've used mine only once like that and it worked ok, but you have to be sure to clean the ashes out really good or they could get on your next smoke. I just use the firebox for grilling now...

I have 2 Webber kettles and a broilmaster natural gas grill. I think I will take your advice and not grill on my smoker. Thanks everyone!
