Hey, guys, i need some advice .im looking at getting a sausage stuffer should i get a 1/2 hp meat grinder with attachment  or a  cheap grinder and a  5lb manual sausage stuffer ?

I would get the cheap grinder and get the 5lb stuffer. You can get pre-ground meat from the butcher, or use the cheap grinder for smaller batches. I have a #10 hand crank grinder and a 5lb stuffer from the Kingston PA.

I haven't used them personally, but a lot of people have trouble with the stuffer attachment on grinders.

awesome thanks and it feeds the sausage casing no problem ??
Using a grinder for stuffing sausage casing, is not a good idea...  It's a PITA...  after a time or maybe 2, you will quit making sausage...  It's waaaaaaaay too much work....  the casing don't fill too easily....   casing have air in them....

Don't even think of it....    get a stuffer .......

What Dave said Grizzly and the grinder.

You are better off with the 2 separate items for making sausage.

remember when curing order your cure from either Butcher Packer or Sausage Maker They have all you need to make great sausage

I've been using the Northern Tool #12 Kitchener grinder and the Kitchener 5lb stuff for several years and have no complaints.  I even have the stuffer with the nylon gears and have had no issues (but I pay attention to where the plunger is in the stuffer).

Also google for a Northern Tool discount code as they usually have $20 off $100 and $10 of 50 available.  I think they also run them on sale close to fathers day sometimes (and the coupon makes it even a better deal).  I got mine a few years back and paid $77 for the grinder and $49 for the stuffer, but you will probably never see those prices again.

Has anyone noticed the similarity in 5# stuffers? My Gander Mountain looks exactly like a Kitchener, which looks exactly like a LEM, which looks exactly like etc, etc.
Seems one outfit is making stuffers and just putting different stickers on them. No problem with it, just curious :-)
