Hi everyone,

I am very new to smoking - just got a masterbuilt electric bullet smoker for my 30th birthday.

The manual isn't clear, but should I be soaking my wood chips before putting them in the pan? The smoker has a water pan so I'm not too concerned with the problem of lack of moisture, but some people say to soak and others say no.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Good afternoon and welcome from East Texas.  I don't ever soak my chips

To explain the not soaking;   Soaking only prolongs the time it takes for your ships to start smoking. The smoking is a result in the chips heating up, when they are wet nothing happens, then they will steam and after all the moisture is dried out from the chips then they start smoking.
