This unit isn't insulated Iam thing I will stud walls and use 3.5" insulation got a plug and play pid 1800watt and a brinkmann 1500 watt element have about 25cu ft wanting temps around 240 max and thought or improvement let me know thanks

Hi FS, I've got about the same setup as you

describe.

I don't know for sure but I think my cook box is a little

smaller than yours.

Assuming you've got 'er sealed up pretty well, when

the weather is decent and fairly warm, it will work ok.

I smoke with mine in the winter and you've got to pick

your days and times.

I have been seriously considering adding an aux

heating element to mine.

The insulation you want is rockwool, brand name

around here is Rokul.

If I can be of any help to you please let me know.

I will get the measurements from mine and post

them on here.

Keep on smokin'                             Ed

Whew, it took me a while to find you again.

My smoker is 12.5 cu. ft.

So depending on where you are located 1500 watts

probably isn't going to be enough.

One thing I have done when it is really cold out is

I made a plywood piece just the size of my smoker.

Then cut it in half, cut a hole in it for my smoke pipe.

By using this I can make my smoking chamber as

small as I need to

I am putting it on a 18x26 1/4 steel that will slide to make it big or small I will have a round 23 cu ft
