I was wondering if anyone has found reasonably priced meat thermometers.   I’ve heard great things about the iGrill2 Bluetooth from some people but I was hoping to find something that would be able to be monitored over my smart phone outside of the Bluetooth range.   So if I’m doing a long smoke I can run out of the house and still be able to check the temperatures.   I found one model on Amazon that can do that but it is $200.   Has anyone found any out there closer to the $50 range that they like?

I just ordered the iCelcius Duo, but haven't received it yet. It's a little over $100. Download the app and check it out, there's a demo loaded on it.

You aren't going to find a wifi therm for $50. The good ones start around $200 and go upwards of $500.

I don't know if you saw the KickStarter campaign for the "Meater", but it looks very interesting.  I did not donate to the campaign, but once they are at retail and a few reviews come out, I'm definitely in on this.  Totally self contained, with pit and meat probes in each unit.  The base for the 4 unit set acts as the charging station and is a wifi portal for the probes to your network or the internet with their app.

That does look interesting and I'm a old school non gadget guy. I always hated all the wires hanging out of the smoker with the Mavericks.

It's not a donation to a campaign but a pre order for the units the way I read it.
