BJ's seems to be only game in town around where I live that has larger beef and pork cuts to smoke.  I don't care for what Sam's Club has to offer, and the nearest COSTCO is 50 miles away.  If you have bought from BJ's, how did it turn out?

We have always had good luck with Sam's club.

I have never tried BJ's.

But here in Florida Publix will have or order anything you want.

Very good quality meat. I get tri tip, and bellies from them all the time.

Sorry I didn't reply to you sooner.  I agree about Publix.  It has been my go to supermarket for over 40 years.  I don't buy meats for smoking from them because their prices are high, and you can't buy larger cuts of beef or pork for smoking on a day to day basis.

I've bought lots of meat from BJ's and never been disappointed. However, I have to agree with an earlier poster. I also shop at Publix. Their meats are also excellent but they are more expensive. I don't mind paying a little more because the stores all seem to be very clean and generally have good selection of all groceries. Another thought -- I have recently been doing a lot of shopping at Aldi's. The selection is't as good but overall, the prices are excellent.

A new Aldis has just opened in Port St. Lucie, close to me.  I will check it out.

As a former Central Floridian and former Publix deli clerk, I agree, Publix will order what you want, but you will pay for it, and it will require some planning because of the ordering.  If you have Kroger in your area, I'd check them.  The one here usually has cryo'd (is that a word) brisket as well as reasonable prices on pork as well.  I've also been spoiled by a local independent.  Last time I was in there, they had whole pork shoulders for .89/lb.  My freezer and smoker were filled that weekend.

I've gotten steaks from Aldi's a few times. Never again. Tuff as a truck tire.

I've gotten brisket flats from BJ's a couple times. Brined one for pastrami, and smoked one, both turned out great.
