The Wife and kids got me the Sportsmans Elite 30 for Christmas.

I seasoned it yesterday, and will put a bird in today.

Going to use it as is from the factory, until I can get a new thermometer and a meat probe.

Only question is, it has a small vent hole in the rear, is that going to provide enough venting?

If you have the 30" Gen 1 it's the grease drain in the bottom back.  There are holes in the side chip loader.

not sure what Gen I have, or how to tell.

My wife said she got it at Ace Hardware.

Gen 1's have door latch on the left, hinge on the right, top right rear vent and back middle bottom grease drain.

This is the electric analog controller model.  Now people know what you have and can share mods to turn it into a great smoker.

Seems to be working well.

I thought I mentioned that it was the analog, sorry.

Pulled the wood box after 2 hours, cherry and pecan, wife does not like an intense smoke flavor.

Pulled it a little early had to finish in the oven for about 20 min. But it crisped up the skin so it was fine.

Waking up early got a 8.5 pound butt to cook
