Just got a new MES30 and having problem. When turned on the digital panel lights up and responds to remote and I can set temp and time. Green power light is on and red heating light comes on. Within five to thirty minutes all of the top control panel lights go out. When pushing Anny button control unit makes fast clicking sounds. Smoker does heat up and once had it up to target of 275 degrees.

Am I doing anything wrong?

When I first started with my MES I had a similar problem. Only thing I did and it seems to have worked fine since then was just unplug the control unit and plug it back in. I don't have the remote so I'm not sure if this is an option for you or not.

I called MES and they were really snowed from their after Christmas rush of us new customers, so I sent an email to their customer service department and got a response today. They seem to feel it is a wiring problem and will replace it. I just need to send them the model number / serial number and a picture of the power cord cut off at the box.

Yours is the 3rd post I've read about panel problems with new or relatively new MES 30s. All three of you report those clicking sounds. Call Masterbuilt Customer Service. Or if you just bought it from a brick-and-mortar retailer, return it for an exchange.
