So quick question. How do I find a mailbox that is not galvanized steel. I went to the local hardware store today and the mailboxes all said steel, but with a quick google I saw that they were galvanized steel. If I am not mistaken, galvanized steel is not good to use. Can someone give me a hand? Thanks.

The mail box will never get hot enough to volatilize the zinc coating... You will be fine...
How about the 3" elbow going into the chip loader opening? It's galvanized ok from the heat?

YES.... it's OK.... The part sticking into the MES "may" get up to 300 deg. F.... still WELL below any volatilization point.. If you can find the aluminum parts... they are easier to work with...

Doc here a link to a adjustable 90 at HD for about 4.00

3" aluminum pipe. Remember to cut the length before you snap it together.

Thanks Jted! I was at Menards the other day and saw all the 3" 90's, couplings, flex hose and a saddle fitting for those that come out the top of the mailbox. If I decide on the mailbox mod I'd come off the back of the mailbox with a coupling to flex pipe to a ninety into the chip loader. There's a HD a mile away from me I'll check out.
