That looks really good so far. Can't wait to see the finished product. What are you anticipating your max temp being? 180?

Alelover, What a great build but I'm sorry to burst your bubble, you may want to read the attached MSDS sheet regarding the Hardi Cement board. It is a known carcinogen and an organ irritant

The crystalline silica portion.... that can be found in sand etc... you have to cut the board before the silica becomes air borne... If you breathe enough, you can get silicosis... a disease brick layers get.... you can wear a dust mask and it's not a problem.....

Really Dave, the msds sheet says that it is a known carcinogen and a known human target organ toxicant. do you really want to tell this guy its not a problem

It's not a problem... The big box stores sell it... there is no warning" when you purchase it... The only warning that should come with it is if you live in California, be sure to have a lawyer as your neighbor....

It is a disclaimer, to have a defense for litigation...

It is a problem if you breathe too much of the dust but there will be no dust in the smoker. Especially after a good seasoning the boards will be sealed. It will never be over 225ºF anyway. I took a propane torch to a piece and it turned black after a while but no fumes were emitted and it did not ignite. Many smokehouses have been built using this with no ill affects.

Can't wait to see what comes out of it.

Had me a little worried with the Wafer-Board, but then you covered it.

Thanks for the Show!!

Yep. Silica is in any cement based products (blocks, bricks, mortar, concrete, etc). The only time it is ever an issue is when you cut it in a manor that generates dust. That's why I have to yell at masons every time I am walking a project for cutting blocks without a dust mask!
