I just ran across this on kickstarter today and it looks pretty cool.  I'm always getting into trouble with the wires on my mavericks... it would be nice to have a wireless one so that I can flip the meat if I want and not have to worry about where the wires are when moving meat around or trying to wrap things..

THANKS! I just pledge for the 2 probe set. I really wanted the 4 probe and the block but I knew my wife would kill me.

I really like that one probe does meat temp and air temp at the same time.

Hmmm...now I gonna have to retire my iGrill! Looks like a sweet setup....about time someone did it with wifi...blue tooth is for the birds.

Normally I want to see reviews and such, but I decided to drop a pledge. I like the fact that I will be able to use the probe on the rotisserie.

Sooooo....

I just upgraded from the two probes to the four probes with the block. I guess I have a spending problem but I couldn't resist. I really like that I can use them when I am cooking sous vide. I know it is a gamble since their are no real reviews but I have had decent luck with kickstarter items.

That really sounds cool, but I wonder what the risk is? Has anyone ever got anything from this kickstart place before?

There are a lot of really good products that come from kickstarter. The smart watch I have been wearing for two years is from there. They have a good reputation for kicking out companies that are trying to sell inferior products. I had pledge to one a few years ago that kickstarter canceled (fortunately you don't pay until it is an official deal).

I've backed several Kickstarter projects and never had a problem, with any of the transactions. My favorite is my Drinktank. Currently awaiting the delivery of my last backed product, also from Drinktank, the 128oz version of my 64oz version!

I also went all in with the four probe and block. The price difference wasn't much so I figured go big or go home!

I like the way you think! The real difference for me was getting the block. I didn't want bluetooth and the block upgrades the system to wifi.

Thanks for the heads up. I've been asking myself for a long time why something like this didn't exist. I just opted for a 4 probe and WiFi enhanced package. It'll make a nice addition to the Spring BBQ season. If it does ship in January (and it certainly looks like it will), It might inspire me to fire up the pit in the sub 15 degree temps of Jan/Feb. March will definitely be a go though. I'll be starving for BBQ by then.

The thing about the pledges, doesn't it mean that this thing is still in beta? How can you pledge money for a project that's still in R&D? Does your pledge go towards the purchase price if it's ever released onto the market?

Typically you are prepaying for a product that is in production that way the company doesn't have to front the cost to make all their inventory. In return for your early payment you get your product from the early shipments and usually get a discount off MSRP.

Thanks. I just showed I had zero experience with this. It seemed like crowd funding to me. It's all academic because all of our expendable income is tied up in debt.
