Do folks just run the probe wires under the cook chamber door? I am wondering if anyone has ever found a grommet of some sort that allows you to pass the probe thru the cook chamber instead of going under the door...

Check the Cajun Bandit website. I know they have a pair of different sensor grommets(1/4" & 3/8") available.

I used brass lamp parts found in any hardware store for about .40¢

I drilled out holes for the brass grommets, and then threaded the smaller brass tubes through.

Your local auto store sells little packs of assorted size rubber grommets.  Perfect for this application.

Get a D3 or D5 track pin stopper from your local cat dealer. Works perfect.
I have several packs of rubber grommets. I,need something that I can seal the hole shut when I am done. I have a pack of vacuum caps as well..perhaps one will fit....hmmmm...what does a track pin stopper look like? Guess I will be doing a quick Internet search....there is a Cat dealer on the way to town...Thanks..

Is your smoker that air tight that you cannot afford allow the grommet hole to remain open?   I guess I'm too use to my Big Chief smokers which are very well vented that an additional 1/8" diameter hole doesn't affect it's performance at all.  If I wanted to plug that little hole, a very small round dowel make of wood or rubber would seal it right up.

Not yet..but I am going to try and seal it up tighter. The firebox door is pretty tight. Had a pretty good sized fire at night, didn't see any light between the door/fb gap. I have a small smoke leak on the CC door, think another clamp will take care of it. My concern is when it is sitting....we have a lot of bees and stink bugs in the area...
