Nice score! Keep in mind you will still need to burn it out, grind it off or have it blasted to get the paint off the outside. They don't paint them with high temp.

Thanks y'all, very helpful. I'll be posting pics as I move along.
One question.
I'm not sure if I should go with just a ball valve and a couple nipples, or if I should go with risers?
Then there's magnets, ha-ha. Just not sure the best road for the intakes.

The concensus seems to be that while risers look cool, they are problematic as air has to work harder to get to your fire. A lot of people who started off with risers have taken them off. A pretty common setup that seems to be very popular and easy to use is 4 pipe nipples, 3 with removable threaded caps and 1 with the ball valve. Magnets can be done too, but I would think a more permanent answer is the pipe nipples. I think I paid less than $10 for the caps and nipples, the ball valve is maybe 10-15.

Hey y'all, is check-in out the barrel and came to realize the lid won't fit inside the drum. How do y'all recommend I prep the lid then for smoking?
Thanks y'all, Josh.
