Hello All-

I'm a newbie smoker and I live in VT.  I just purchased a MES 30 along with the AMNPTS (tube smoker).  I was wondering if I should have purchased the AMNPS (5 x 8 pellet tray) instead.  Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations?

Also, does anyone have experience smoking in temps well below 20 degrees... will I be able to do so?  Thanks!

Good afternoon and welcome to the forum, from another hot, hot, hot day in East Texas and the best site on the web. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

What altitude are you at in VT?  My guess is the tray would have been a better choice but that depends on how high up in the mountains you are.

I'm in the Burlington area, so not high up in the mountains.  I used the tube smoker for a Boston butt this weekend and everything turned out great!  The tube smoker with the MES 30 seems to be a winning combination... TBS all day long.  I may buy the 5x8 tray just have it on hand so I can compare the difference in smoke tastes.  But, I'm completely happy with my current set up... it rocks!

If you do buy both please report back with detail!  Glad your smoke was a success.
