Looks great....grate shaker?
I needed to use our tractor to mate the 2 together, and mine was only the inner skin.......and no door. Damn thing is heavy lol...
Yeah, I won't need to poke around at the wood is the idea anyway. Shake the grate is all. If it is not needed, no big I have a handle to pull out the ash pan.

Did you start your build? Sounds like you are going to beat me out if you already mated the 2 together!

Do you have a build thread?

I'm liking that floor in the shop, looks way more like work is going on than it did when you started...

Be careful with that firebox, heavy as hell and bulky, you can put a nut out with that thing....

I did start my build. Have not touched it in several days...I didn't build the entire box prior to mounting. The inner skin is welded to the tank. Have to cut and fit the outer skin yet. I do have a build thread....but decided to stop updating it.....pretty much 0 interest in it. I spend enough time talking to myself....no point in doing it online....

I got the 2 mated together today. Was pretty easy considering how heavy the FB is. My guns still perform! haha , I am use to moving engines around. The FB is cake compared to an engine.

Anyway, the RF Plate is in as well and I made up a chimney flue for the exhaust stack..... I put a 1/2" slope in the RF Plate. There will be a drain added on the left hand side.

Next up is making the stand, wood crate and find some wheels to mount up on it........ It is almost complete!

Good deal. Have not been in the garage since Tuesday....Ain't gonna make it out there til Tuesday of this week....

Thanks guys!

I decided on a different route for the CC door closure lock assembly's. I ordered a few more spring handles and the closures will be made out of 1/2" solid rod with 3/16 plate steel.

When it comes to the wheels I am split on what to do. I did find some steel spoke wheels here....... I am going to call them possibly to day and see what they can do for me. I could

make my own but I just don't have the time to do so.

On the front end I am leaning toward a Wagon steering system with some sort of retractable handle. We shall see.

Here is a link to the Wagon Wheels. They offer all kinds.

RF plate 1 piece? All the ones I have been looking at had a piece of angle iron in the middle with both sides pitched into it....hopen that makes sense.....

Sure is! It angles to the left side with 1/2" Slope. There will be a drain on that end. You don't even really need it sloped at all. Think about it..... You could push the wheels up on something to get all the liquid to point at the drain. A trailer model.... well that would be a different story.

You can truly over think this stuff. I have done it several times on this build.

I like how you put the FB door on the front instead of on the end. Looks nice!
Thanks!

I figured the FB door may as well be on the working side of the smoker.... This way you can grab wood off the shelf under the Cook chamber and throw it into the FB without walking around it. Maybe faster? Haha

I am guilty of this....

Well, there is a 3 week lead time on the wheels and the guy still has not gotten back to me... So I went to Harbor Freight and bought 2-10" Solid Rubber tires with steel wheels and 2-8" Solid Rubber tires with steel wheels. $30.00 for all 4 of them.

10" wheels are good for 220 pounds each and the 8" are good for 300 pounds each.

I will be making my own axles and wagon steering assembly for the front that will utilize the 8" wheels.

You have it looking great!!

I know it has to be killing you to get that first fire going. It won't be long now.
Thanks!

Yeah I have been thinking about it a lot lately. As soon as I have the wheels on. I will be burning it in with some eucalyptus wood I have laying around, it burns pretty darn hot!

After that I will have the Sand Blaster come over and then burn it in one more time seasoning the grates before I paint it - I will also get a price on Powder Coating it just to see what it is.

Well that is the plan anyway!

Powder coat could work on the CC but you may want to wait until you see how cool the outside of the firebox runs with the insulation. Do you have an IR thermometer?

Yes!  I will wait until I know there are no changes needed as well! That would suck to have it coated and I have to Chop into it to change something! haha

Been there and done that on a few rear end housings! Lol
