My Home depot has started carrying split logs , Problem is I have no idea how to use them in my Longhorn ... A little help ?

I recommend breaking them down with an axe or hatchet. I personally like to remove the bark first.

Can you show a pic of them? They might already be split enough to use as they are, but it's always handy to break some of them down into smaller pieces for kindling.

They are already split what I am getting at is do you get a pile of coals going then just lay it on top? Blue Whisper Fun and Productive ???? I grew up on a stock farm where we had to cut and split enough wood to get through an Iowa winter. I missed the fun part of it..lol!

Got it thank you. Local grocery store Fry's has Baby Backs $1.99 lb bought 4 racks today  .(limit 4 ) and will buy 4 more tomorrow .  Blue whisper stay close am going to try the logs this weekend may need advice  !!!!!

Thanks but mine is kind of small ... seriously, my offset is in that medium size range where an open fire can be too hot. I've run a lot of smouldering fires but sometimes I have open flame in the firebox. I did that today with apple chunks, and salmon on the grate.
