I will be smoking multiple pork butts (3) for my 4th of July party. Maybe more since more and more people are coming. I'm going to start on Friday.

Here's my question: I currently own one Maverick ET-733. Since only one probe is going to monitor the meat, does anybody have any tricks or neat ways of monitoring multiple meats with one probe?

I have thought about buying cheapo leave in therms for each butt vs. using a digital weber therm to check the IT....each way causes me to open the door to manually check temp.

Or can I assume all butts will be within a few degrees of each other and just monitor the others after the butt with the Maverick probe is finished?

I use a handheld digital thermometer along with the meat probe(s).

I would probably insert the meat probe into the smallest butt, when its getting close I'd take a reading on the others.

From there do what's needed to get them all up to your desired finished temp.

Good luck and enjoy!

If you are confident with the temp in the smoker, use the second probe for the second butt.

I do the same with the maverick meat probe in the smaller and check the others with a handheld.

Minimal opening of cc.

The therm on the door is inaccurate. I replaced the original with a River country therm and I'm not really happy with that as it takes a long time to adjust to temp fluctuations.

I WOULD like to buy another therm for multiple smokes...but that's out of the question for now!!! Lol!!

I will probably check the others with a handheld. I'll throw the maverick in the smallest butt.

I have never done multiple butts before and was curious on how close the temps are for each one...thanks for your replies!

I did 3 10lb butts last year. I had to rotate them in my vertical gas smoker. I rotated bottom up when I had to change out wood chunks.

They were all within a few degrees when done.
