Hello,

I just bought a Masterbuilt electric smoker and have not yet smoked anything. I bought some sausages from the meat store today and was wondering if they are OK to smoke. I was thinking they would be pretty simple to smoke but then I read somewhere else about cures and no cures and the danger of smoking sausages and it got me a little scared. I'm really new into the whole smoking world but my goal is to learn this summer. Do you guys think the sausages I bought from the meat store would be OK to smoke for my first time. Thanks for any input.

Awesome, thanks man. Gonna smoke them tomorrow for dinner.

So just finished smoking the sausages to an internal temp of 165 at a temperature of about 225 degrees Fahrenheit. They taste good and are super juicy. Something I need to figure out is how to get actual smoke in the smoker. The manual doesn't tell me much on how to set the smoker up and stuff. There is a water pan just above the wood pan and then below the wood pan is the heat element. Is there something I'm missing to get the smoker to actually smoke? Right now it feels like its just like an oven. Thanks for all your help guys.

Here's the final product. They are all different types of sausage which is why the colours are different.

Sausages look good, as far as smoke, there is a handle on the right side turn and it should come out fill that 3/4 full put it back in and turn so chips or pellets fall out into the burner pan and it will start smoking you will need to do this about every 30 min or so did you season the smoker before you started??

I did season the smoker before use. The Masterbuilt smoker that I bought wasn't the one with refilling chute on the side. I got the cheaper electric one with the analog temperature gauge on the front door. In order to fill the wood chip pan I need to open the front door. Here's a pic of the model I got.

You may want to get the amps or ampts here is the link and you can search above there are many Articles on it.

You may have to open doors to keep smoke a goin if you use that pan but the amps will get you some hours of smoke but dont know what kind of Mods you have to do to get air flow on that model??

Good luck
