Only my second time doing chicken. First try was quarters flavor was good but skin was rubbery. This time was chicken breasts rubbed over night and wrapped in bacon. Smoked with cherry and I cranked the heat up higher around 275 for 2 hours or so. The IT was actually 180 or so but turned out super juicy with a light smoke flavor (probably from the bacon) turned out great though.

Going to try Smoking some Chicken breast's this weekend in my new Charbroil Vertical Smoker!! Any recomendations on wood?

Poultry takes smoke quickly. I like something sweet on chicken like apple or any fruitwood. It all comes down to personal choice. Main thing is to not overcook them. They cook quick and are touchy.

Gunna smoke some breasts on the electric today, since i didnt have asany thigh quarters in the freezer as i thought.
Never tried smoking breasts before, only grilled em.

Should i expect them to take about the same amount of time as the thigh quarters do? These are some pretty large breasts.

I really like the bacon wrapping idea, probably gunna do that depending on how much bacon i have

Although the minimum temperature for cooking chicken breasts is 165 F (74 C) I prefer to take mine up to 175 F (80 C).
