Interesting.  Lowes has always put a limit on the number of two-packs purchased, but this is the first time I remember seeing HD do so. I've got probably another year's worth of KBB in the garage (280 lbs) and one bag of RO.  In 11 months I've gone through 220 lbs since adding the Guru.  Might pick four more KBB two-packs just for insurance.

I am in Ma. now and they limit you to 2 packs.in Lowes

Wallmart had the 2 15# packs for $7.98 did not see any limit.

Went to Lowe's yesterday and picked up 5 2-Pack bags. I got in line and they told me I was only allowed to get 2 2-pack bags. I was mistaken because I thought Lowe's limit was 5 packs, but that was Home Depot's limit .The good thing is they let me through and get all 5 packs! But don't tell anyone! I wish I would have taken advantage of the Royal Oak sale Home Depot had for $9.88 a bag. Do you think there will be another?

All the 20 lb bags your seeing anywhere is the old stock they have and once they are out its gone. The 18.6 bags have same number of briquettes in as the 20 do and last same amount of time burning (per Kingsford testing)

7% lighter yet same number of bricks and same cook time? Hmmmm, sounds like corporate a chin boogie to me. I'll have to look into this. They had to change something.

Yep, there is a new formula for 2015. I suspect they are just packing the bricks to a lesser density. I'll pick up a two pack this weekend and do a water dissolve test.
Really? Why not just size and weigh the old and the new briqs and compare them?

I'll bet the new formula still contains "mineral carbon", AKA coal.

On edit it looks like this has already been done by Chris Allingham at TVBB-

Well , BYS , if I were a Chunk and Coal user , the place I'd go is the Lowes(t) place to shop . Easy decision
