I have started this thread by a request.

Last year I successfully grew my own Chilli plants from seed and ended up with an abundance of chilli's, with so many I began to freeze them.

At the end of the season I cut all the branches off the plant with just the stem remaining and then re-potted the plant and left it on my Kitchen window seal over the winter Months.

You don't need to feed them over the winter months.

This is what the Chilli plant looks like today.

With lots of fruits clearly visible.

So don't be throwing your old Chilli plants on the compost heap, give yourself a giant leap forward into next years harvest, but only choose your very best plants to overwinter.

And Good Luck.

Hello.  GREAT tip and good to hear from you again.  I thought we had lost you.

I saw your post in the other thread and was going to ask about putting plant "to sleep". Thank you for starting the thread.

When is this best done? How late in the fall? How often do you water the plant in winter? Anything to be done to kick start it in spring?

Would it work for sweet pepper too?

We appreciate the tip.

I think it works for all Perennials atomicsmoke, here is a link that will answer all your questions.

My Plants last year produced Chilli's up to November, but I was chasing the Sun with them.
