Smoked Chicken Tamales

Tamales my first time making and eating them. Thanks ellymae for the instructions on the dough,my package is different.

Lets start soak the corn husk for a few hours.

Dough ingredients and instructions

My sauce I used 1 small onion fine dice,2 garlic toes,1 small bell pepper.

1 tspn of the Chilpotle Peppers sauce, and 1 can petite diced tomatoes

Sauteed onions,peppers garlic.added tomatoes and Chilpotle Peppers sauce

used an immersion blender to puree the sauce.

had 4 Chicken Thighs I smoked the day before.Boned out and chopped.

Drained Husk kept them just moist

Mixed my dough by hand I think it was a little dryer then it should have been.

I've been dying to make tamales but can't find corn husks in any of the local stores. Granted I haven't gone to any Latin stores. Those look really good!

Mdboatbum They carry them in my local Shop Rite,you can also try some Asian stores if they are near.
 
 
Bet you wish you made more? Once you get the routine down they go fairly fast....and some very tasty chow....good job, well done, I love PP in them.....Willie

Those look awesome... Might I recommend topping with some chimichurri sauce or pico de gallo.

I would make pulled pork just for the tamales....LOL  I don't make too many at a time, not like those ladies in West Texas do, but a couple of dozen I can freeze are worth the effort.

I found one of my favoriites has been mixing green enchidala sauce in with the meat. I put loads of flavor in the Maza, cause I am not too sure which I like best the maza or the meat.....LOL Probably the maza.

I have a couple a threads here making 'em. No I am not a pro, my first attempt was shown on a thread here about a year ago. GWAD I do like tamales.

Hate when folks show making 'em here, always makes me end up raiding the freezer and I think I am down to my last installment .

Maybe throw a butt on, make some sammies, tamales, and some boudin..... been wanting to try boudin with pulled pork! Its all your fault too! Thank you.

Kevin I did read yours and I was tempted to wing it, but 1st time out I went with the ingredients, I will be making these again and a little Foam twist will work for me.Thanks for looking

That's about what I do to mine Kevin.....I like green sauce so mixed it in enough to be 'wet' enough. Ur right sir....the steamed masa is good on it's own merit.....Willie

Foam you are so right and Thanks for the point wife just told me we have some PP in the fridge defrosting for You guessed it.

Those look really good! Never made them myself, I do PP enchiladas and love them! Might have to give that a go. Thanks for sharing, David.
