What are you folks using for it? Don't know how many racks I am going to use So may need to come up with a plug for the unused ones as well...any suggestions would be appreciated.

I dont use a port. Just run it between the drum and lid.

Just tun mine through the exhaust on the top. If you're really concerned and want the holes all over drill a hole where you thinknyourngrayenwill go. Plug it with cork when not using. Or a magnet.

I got some threaded lamp post 1/2" in length & drilled two holes where my grates are located... So far, it's worked nice ! This is on my mini WSM !

I'm currently gathering parts for my first UDS (DS?) build, and I went with the Halex waterproof connectors after seeing them in another thread. Will be running one at each of the two cooking rack heights for meat temp probes, and one at the upper rack height for the smoker temp probe.

I drilled holes because I was afraid I would end up wrecking the wires. That was 2 years ago and I use my mavericks in the kettle with no port and between the lid and kettle and they still work fine. I do use magnets to cover them up when not in use.

That's one of my neices school picture magnets covering up the old therm. hole. I don't use it anymore. no need.

The 3/8" Brass Lamp Stems are popular. You will need 2 Brass Nuts, one for each side. After you get it installed, cut the excess length off.

You can also use Silicone Grommets available from Maverick.

No picture in my collection, but a Brass Air Hose Barb will also work. Make sure the Probe will go through the hole. Cut the Barb off, and file smooth.
