Here is a pic of what I am using as a burner. The problem is that I can't get my wood to burn properly. It just.burns a few holes in the wood. I used tried putting a tray on it and use wood chips but that didn't work either. Please help.

Next time I'll chop it down!
At the moment I'm using my ECB but tomorrow I get a quote from someone about making me one out of steel

Use mules skillet idea.  Consider placing some heavy duty foil on top.  Punch a few holes in it to begin with, increase the number of holes until you get the desired amount of smoke.  This will also keep your wood from flaring up.

Here is a pic of my current setup.
I tried some kind of aluminum tray that sat on top on top of the bars above the burner with chips. I have it 40 mins and still no smoke. Thats why I bought larger pieces of wood.
Would not having a vent on top cause any problems.

I don't think gas cylinders are meant to be used laying down on their side.  May have a safety issue here.

Good luck

In theory it shouldn't matter. It is only a temp measure anyway until I get a longer hose and bigger cylinder.

Gas bottle "safety issue" fixed. I bought a 2 metre extension and also a adjustable regulator...not that I know what that does.
