That fire box looks great Joe.  If you have left over 1/4 plate you can always make another, in your spare time, for a gun safe.

Wishing you and family a Happy Thanksgiving!     ed

Back at it again.......Mounted the firebox. Had to do some grinding on the drum lip in some places but the fitment went well. had it in within an hr. As I was welding the box in you can hear the metal moving. I think my smoker door moved a little. I'm waiting for some steel supports to weld to inside the smoker box door before I finish the firebox. I have the dampers parts all made up, just have to mill down one side of the 1/2 inch angle for a better fit.....

Thanks for looking

Joe

Man you got that thing looking great

Gary

Hey Joe !!!!!!!!!! Those air inlets to the FB...... they are, without a doubt, the prettiest I've seen..... Very nice work you are doing.....

Thanks everyone...... Going to do the 2"  V down the middle with the drain and then install the RF plate on each side. might as well go all the way instead of just a plate.......

One thing you probably need to do once it's finished to check out road worthiness is pull it on down here to East Texas and let me try it out for a day or a couple hundred.

I don't think Texas will be far enough for a test run. SPeed right on through there and don't stop until you get to Oregon!

Great Looking Rig so far!

No !  I can tell by looking the smoker needs to head South West

Only costs a few cents more to go First Class..... When all the work is considered, First Class it is....

Really liking your double door and narrow trailer... great looking build so far! As Dave said... your vents are pretty darn good lookin'

I mean.. if that's the best you can do.. well then I guess that will have to do....

How are you going to pull that and your camper to Jerry's ??

but really.. this is looking great Joe....

The weather has not been cooperating ..... Was able to get the drain finished (3" angle) and I cleaned the inside of the tank with my 4.5 inch angle grinder with wire wheel.... I added 4 inches to the firebox to make the drain centered at the doors. Installed the threaded coupling to the drain. The drain pipe will be removable. I think this is true with other smokers like the lang..located the hole to be drilled in the bottom of the cc.... I can call it a CC now instead of a drum or tank......

Going to install the drain and rf plate this friday.. The weather is looking good for this weekend

Planned to have the weekend dedicated to the smoker but looks like things didn't go as planned. I was able to get the RF plate in Sunday.  Its not welded in all the way but its in.I'll have to finish it this week.... I must say what a pain in the arse it was......I got so mad trying to get everything to fit right I had to quit and go take a break.... Decided to fry some speckled trout at a buddy's house up the road.....We caught these out of Harker's Island North Carolina.............

The build looks awesome and so do those sea trout!! Nothing like some fresh fried trout!

Nice, great job   Like those fish, looks tasty

Gary

Don't look like much more was done but spent a lot of time welding in the RF plate and installing the drain. I had some 1-1/4 untested pipe and my harbor freight pipe threading set.. did a good job...  The main work is done I hope. Paint, door trims and the cooking racks are all that's left before a fire is going to go in this rig. stage 2 will be a burner in front of the tank for frying and stage three will be a hot water system and sink.
