Very nice!

You all have some great stencil work. If I tried that it would look horrible!

You got my vote!

I would prefer mine with a Green and Orange "U" on mine, but I could be a Longhorns fan if that found its way under my tree.

I hear you! If I had my own to do over it would be flying the LSU flag... Mine is plain. Maybe I need to do another one for me...

See I would get in trouble with LSU here. My wife's family is all UF. Soooo that would cause some issues. The closest I could get would be the purple. The wife loves purple...

If you are going to repaint or go new. I have found some auto header paints in diffrent colors.

Is it me? Or im I just not trying hard enough to find the 32qt  imusa pots. Target use to have them for 30bucks. Not avaliable in any stores. You go to order online. Out of stock. I've found them, but they are 60bucks plus now. Any tips?

Mini huli huli wsm!

The other build I did with the 40 qt vmi pot the lid fit like a glove. This one after I got it home and had already put the holes in for the rotisserie I noticed the lid was bent like something heavy had been placed on it. It didn't fit at all!!! It ain't pretty but after lots of bending I got it so it works good now...

Thanks for the tip! Where did you find the different colored high temp paint? My local stores (at least the ones I go to regularly) carry any color I want as long as it's black :-)

That's great! Got me thinking...

Not that this will help as you may not have either of these stores. O'Rielly Auto has a good selection as does Napa, at least here. Online you can get VMI paints readily. Check the heat ratings as not all are the same. As mentioned header paint is one if the highest rated. The green that I bought rated to 1200 was no match for the Mini-ZA.

What I have seen is a VHT ceramic paint. It needs to cure before use. It is rated to 2000°. It is also said to be used in high heat areas like headers and exhaust systems. I find it in some auto parts stores, but mostly on their web sites.

The black paint sold at Lowes and Home Depot say they are for grills, stoves and engines. I can not find anything saying food safe for it. The same goes for the VHT paint. Just use caution and only use it on the exterior and follow curing instructions. I would also do a hot burn with no food to see if you get any fumes that are off smelling. If after 30 minutes or so and you still have off smelling fumes, I would remove the paint. We have used the VHT paint on some tractor headers and exhaust and I have never smelt anything from it.

Wow. That is interesting.

The stuff we use for the tractors is rated for 2000° and is a silicone ceramic based paint. I wonder if it would work better? When I build my next mini for me I will have to try it.

There are plenty of minis that are painted with the off shelf rust oleum grill paint. I think with the mini-ZA I'm pushing the upper limits of the heat zone at least at the base. When I do another Mini-ZA I won't paint below the steamer insert lip. I found some better latches for the door too!

Smoke away!!!
