Just wondering if anyone has added any of the Smoke Daddy smoke generators to their pellet grill/smoker? If so how is it working against the positive pressure generated by the combustion fan in the grill? Is the suplied air pump strong enough to overcome the cook chamber pressure?

I have the 18" tube smoker from Todd and it does a good job when using just about every other type of pellet except my favorite Cherry. For some reason the Cherry pellets just will not stay lit. I've tried every trick in the book. I like Cherry wood flavor so much that i was thinking about going with a Smoke Daddy and using chips and chunks instead of pellets.

I get too much smoke with the tube smoker (for my MES at my low elevation).

However I get Perfect smoke with the 5" X 8" AMNPS, except with Cherry pellets.

If I want to use Cherry, I have to mix it with Hickory which is usually all I ever use.

I had the Big Kahuna before I got the Amazing Smokers, but I had nothing but trouble with it.

I Thank Todd for making my smoking Easy!!

Thanks Bear,
The Cherry pellets I have are the 100% from Todd and like I said they just will not stay lit in my tube. Has anyone you know of tried the BBQer's Delight cherry pellets in a tube? Just wondering if I would have better luck with the blended Cherry? I have not tried the 100% Cherry in my AMNPS cause I have not been using my MES been using the Yoder YS640 sence I got it, and from what I have read the AMNPS does'nt work well in a pellet pooper.

I don't think it would matter where you get Cherry pellets. I believe it is a problem with the makeup of cherry.

I was a Cabinetmaker for 20 years, and the kiln dried Cherry that we used had black streaks in it, some of which were open similar to a check. We called these "Pitch pockets", and they seemed to be a bit oily. This is just a guess, but I believe this might have something to do with the problem. Cherry is also a less stringy grain----As opposed to Hickory being a very stringy wood.

Since the wood is pulverized, the type of grain shouldn't have anything to do with the pellets, but the pitch pocket oil could, since Cherry seems to be the only Problem Pellet, and I know of no other Pellet wood that has these Pitch pockets. The Cherry wood as a whole seems more oily that other woods too.

Just my guess.

I was just thinking that the BBQer"s Delight pellets are a blend of Oak and Cherry and may work in the tube smoker.
I had some from them and they worked fine in my AMNPS. Guess I will just have to order some more and see if they work in the tube. They will not go to waist i will burn them up some how!

Sure---Anything but straight Cherry should work fine. Todd sells mixes too, but I forget what the mixes are---Probably tells on his site.

I know when I mix Cherry with my Hickory, I get less smoke, and it burns slower. I think if I mixed too much Cherry with my Hickory, it would go out, but I don't know where that line would be, because I use 100% Hickory about 95% of the time.

Todds cherry mix is the Pitmasters blend.    Hickory, cherry and maple.

I get excellent results with my smoke daddy big kahuna on my traeger texas grill. More smoke than you will often need. It is also more intense smoke flavor than pellets IMO because I use a little lump charcoal with either hickory or cherry chunks.

Cold smoking is great with it but it still produces plenty of smoke at high temps too...I just don't use my smoker very often for high end cooks.
