I've had a bag of Kingsford blue bag charcoal in my garage for about two years. I'm out of what I regularly use so I opened up the bag and saw all the charcoal is covered with a gray mold or something. This happened with another bag of Kingsford I had years ago that I had stored for awhile in my garage. Is the charcoal still OK to use. I used that other bag and to my knowledge no one got sick.

WA might be a humid environment?

I have used KB for more years than I would like to admit and have never seen that.

We have humid winters so I move my CHARX into the garage till spring.

Not sure what could be on it that a little fire wouldn't kill?

Good luck and good smoking.

Thanks, Venture. Yep, we get very humid starting near the end of September all the way up to Spring. As I wrote, this is the second bag where it's happened and with that first bag I used them with no problem, figuring the high temp would kill almost nasties. I actually use Stubb's charcoal briquettes exclusively--much better product--but haven't had them last long enough to see if they get gray as well.
