Hi guys,

I'm using an MES (Masterbuilt Electric) system and it has a nice black coating on the once silver colored walls inside. I regularly clean the window for viewing and clean the water tray, the grates, and drip pans but I'm curious if it's okay to leave the coating on the interior walls from smoke buildup over time? Cleaning that is going to be a nightmare so I'm just curious.

Yup, I only clean the cooking grates.

I dont use the water pan.

Once in awhile I will wire brush the loose stuff off of the sides.

Clean the grate with a wire brush like the pit, other than that its good to go. Well if you ever let your son-in-law borrow it, just give it to him and get another. All that creosote is tuff to clean and he'll always wonder why his smoke is never as good as yours!
