Smoked this 8-pounder in my MES 30 digital Gen 1 using the A-MAZE-N Pellet Smoker filled with two rows of applewood pellets (only used one row during the entire 5-hour smoke). Can't believe how easy it was. All I did was put a commercial Southwestern rub on the turkey breast and insert it into the MES set for 235* degrees. Didn't use brine, cheesecloth, or foil. I cooked it to 171* IT instead of a recommended 161-163* and it came out juicy and perfectly cooked. I used it to make a turkey BLT with avocado Panini sandwich for dinner which turned out superbly.

The AMNPS performed flawlessly which it will always do if it's initially lit properly. I also used the Maverick ET-733 to monitor everything from inside my house. That combined with the AMNPS has made making real BBQ almost set-it-and-forget-it for us lazy guys.

Thanks, oldschoolbbq.  I never thought of uploading plated shots; I'll have to remember that. However, in this case I would have been sent home for my plating since my carving was very sloppy. The remaining turkey not used for the sandwiches will be used for chili dishes or others that call for smoked or rotisserie chicken.

Looks very good Rick...you should make one of those Avocado Panini sandwiches and snap a few pics for us! :)
Thanks, knifebld. The Panini sandwiches came about 3 hours after I finished smoking the turkey breast and it was all I could do to produce three sandwiches before 9 pm. But, these were the experimental sandwiches and next time I'll pay more attention to construction and plating. However, my family drives me nuts. My son was happy with the Panini but my wife says next time she just wants the sandwich browned on a case iron skillet like a grilled cheese sandwich. You can't please everyone so you have to please yourself...

I got to try that in my ECB. Just set it up and go back inside and watch TV. I've had a terrible cold for the last week and have been sitting in the house on my butt; I could get used to this lazy deal.

Grillmonkey, the ET-733 will set you free. I can walk through my house with the receiver and still stay in contact with the transmitter outside. I can sit at the computer with the receiver next to me, sit at the table having a snack and keep an eye on things, totally cool.

A summer cold? Those are tough. Hope you get rid of it quickly and get back to smoking.

Hopefully doing spares Sunday.
