Thanks!!!! First time doing a brisket. And first time smoking.
My! I am sorry to be the one to break the news to you. Most people who have a great first smoke like this become addicted to smoking. There is no known cure or successful ten step programs.

You may be doomed to making great food and having fun.

Thanks Disco, I'm pretty excited. Made for some relaxation, after a busy week. And a couple of cold ones for good measure. Was surprised the smoker did well. It looks ugly, but works well.

Yep, you are addicted. There is something about being home, taking your time to cook a meal for your family, relaxing and then having a great meal. I am happy your first smoke turned out great. My first couple didn't and I struggled until I found this forum. I have learned a lot, my smoking improved and I met many great people.

Please continue smoking and posting! Oh, have another cold one for me!

Nothing wrong with ugly at all. The smoker was a homemade one by the previous owner of my house. And he left it for me. It's old and beat up, but until I can find a welder to fix the legs,I'll do my best to keep it running.

LOL----My point exactly------Like your smoker, I'm old & beat up & worn out, but still making good smoked stuff on occasion.

I'll second what Bear said, I'm ready for my 100,000 mile tune up or maybe an overhaul. Pretty doesn't always make good Q  I have been to BBQ cook off's  and tasted Q that came off $20,000 dollar smokers that were terrible and some fantastic Q that came off ECB's

Brisket color looked great, bark was outstanding  Good Job

I'm smoking my first brisket tomorrow hope it turns out as good as your looks

Nice bark, ring, and juicy looking slices.  Looks like you hit it out of the park, especially for your first smoke.  Plenty of folks work long and hard to get brisket results like that.
