Hi Everyone,
So my introduction is a little different. I found this sight in 2008 when I bought a bullet smoker at a garage sale. I tried once and it was a terrific disaster. So I never tried again, though it as aways in the back of my mine until fathers day when My daughters bought me a new smoker.
So about 3 weeks ago I found this site again. I have been talking to the many very friendly and helpful folks on this site. I was given enough info to try my second smoke after 6 years. This time I have a different result. Thanks to everyone here I was able to figure out things that killed my first smoke. I was so happy with the results of my first smoke (pork butt) that I tried a second smoke. The second smoke was jerky. It came out amazing. I was blown away by the results.
I couldn't have done it without the folks here and their willingness to help. This is a great site and I hope to be using it for a very long time.
So real quick about me. My name is Rob. I live in Westwood, NJ which is at the very top of new jersey. As I said earlier in this post, I tried smoking in a bullet 6 years ago and it wasn't pretty. I received a smoker for fathers day this year and was determined to make it happen. My smoker is great now that I've made some mod's. It was the help of folks on this site that enabled me to figure what mods I needed and how to address the issues. My only issue with the smoker design is how I have to pull the coal box out to refill. I would have preferred a door on top that opens up and allows the ability to pour coals right in from the top. Now I know for the next time.
I think my smoker, this web site and I are the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
Fell free to say hi and thanks again to everyone that has already educated me so I am at a place where I am confident I can do anything with my smoker because I always have this web site to fall back on in case o get snagged.
Ciao,
Rob
