No experience whatsoever with smoking meats however have recently developed a keen interest. I'm an American living in the Philippines and sorely miss some of my favorite foods from back home. Figured I could build a smoker and replicate what I crave. Thanks for letting me join.

I'm originally from Houston so we used to be neighbors. Man I miss some good Texas style BBQ! Have tried using slow cooker and other non-smoker methods but nothing hit the nail perfectly. Look forward to learning more from this forum.

futuredude,

howdee n welcome. how long ya been here in Philippines? I only recently moved/retired. Been here a bit over 2 months now. Already made bacon, roast been and keilbasa. What part of the Islands ya in? I'm on northern end of Mindanao, hour or so from Cagayan de Oro.

Lots of great reading on here, and if you can't seem to find the answer with the search bar, there are many many great folks who give good sound advice and help.

Hiya Louie,

I've been in-country for three years now and located in the Central Luzon region. I haven't bought or built a smoker yet, but the craving is pressing me forward. I've seen some real clever concrete designs on the forum and thinking I will start with that, you know we get that nice red clay kiln-dried brick that would be perfect for the job and cheap too. Been busy taking in all the info the last few hours.

Have a great one!
