What to buy now that my grill is dying

Well my Brinkmann is dying {rusting apart} it a Duel Fuel and I liked it a lot, but it has cost my around $100 dollars to own for two years I cover it in the off season and leave it uncovers in the grilling season cause it is used most days I except that one part is my fault cause I left ash and coals set for a couple of weeks and they got wet so that part rusted out and that on me but the warming grates rotted out totally in two years and now the main body on the gas side wear the burner side are done for and I hope make it throw this season. Is this normal for Brinkmann grills?

I do like the dual fuel idea Was thinking of the Char-Griller Duo with smoke box or the Char-Broil Combination grill.

Smokers are like a wife.Many different types and sizes, still if you dont take care of it or her, someone or some thing else will .Rust or another man will take her away.It is your fault if she abandons you...................

I hear you on that But the part that is rusting out should not be failing that fast. I'm looking for a quality replacement for this grill.

I have two Kettles and love them and take no care of them and they look new in side compared to the Brinkmann and one is 10years old.

I like the dual setup cause I can throw on the gas and burn up some burgers and dogs quick.

Well I looked at the char grill at Loews it appears to be a much heavier gauge steel then the Brinkmann. But Char-Grill doesn't list the extra smoke box on their website do they still make it? Or do you have to modifie a smaller grill?

I've dropped the Char-Broil Combo did not like the way you adjust the coal hight new it barely moved.

I'll second the Weber. You can use as is right out of the box, $299 to $399 depending on the size.

After 6 months of use I put the Gasket Kit on mine ($25) and the BBQ Guru DigiQ DX2 ($270 Firecraft). It is truly a set and forget now and so friggin' fuel efficient the fuel load is actually growing just from adding half chimney's of lit charcoals on four shorter smokes in the last two weeks of 225F, 325F, 275F, and 250F (6 hrs, 2.5 hours, 3 hours, and 1 hour respectively). It has been humming along on the 5th smoke now at 250F for the last two and a half hours and I've been working around the house and SMF'ing.

Below is my Maverick. It is locked on 250F, just where I set the Guru.

the smoke box is char grill portable box. You knock out the side plate on both the portable and the grill and it has the hardware to attach it. It's a miserable one to move around when fully assembled! I would modify with large wheels.

I'm starting to really look at grills and BBQ the wife is insisting on a gas grill or one like the one I have the Char-Grill looks to be much better constructed then the Brinkmann. She even said she let me buy the weber summit and a smoker. Now we're getting some where I guess those smoke park chopps paid off.

WSM and A Weber Genesis. Can't go wrong there. I have A genesis that has been in the family for 22 years. I replaced the flavorizer bars with stainless ones last year and it works like new again. Best investment my dad ever made way back then. No rust and I live in the pacific northwest. Costs more initially but no modifications necessary and you can still get parts 22 years later.

I have the Char-Griller with side fire box. They still have it at Lowes. I have had it three years, use it every weekend and at least once in the middle of the week. Always cover it and clean the ashes out after every use. It is holding up well. But now that I also have a pellet grill/smoker, I think I like it better. Wood is sometimes hard to find in Houston, but the pellets are always at Gander or Academy.

the 670 right? I would agree a Genesis would be sufficient if your going with a smoker also. For 699 (no side burner or sear burner) you can have a very good weber unless you go stainless then more plus add on a smoker.
