I was going through the seasoning procedure yesterday, and the unit shut down probably 5 or 6 times in the 3 hours... I'm thinking that maybe the problem was because I was using an extension cord, but don't really know..... any suggestions ?    THANKS !  ! !

Just moved it to it's own plug and is still doing the same thing ... Also, it is not tripping the GFI ....  I looked through some threads but didn't see the same problem, maybe I didn't look through enough..  Thanks !  !!

Call masterbuilt and complain. I'd guess its faulty and they'll be sending you new parts. Same old story with this company. I have a mes 40 and have had my share of problems with it as most have.

Called Masterbuilt this morning and they are sending out a new control unit. It's on back order until Next Monday the 23rd, then will be UPS'd in 3-4 days ......

Masterbuilt support was great to talk with ! !  !

A new controller.....thats great! Maybe now it won't trip the circuit, it'll only be 50 degrees off.
Masterbuilt customer service was great with me too. Too bad the parts they sent me didn't work. Three new controllers....first one didn't shut the element off at all and melted the insulation when it shot up to almost 380 degrees.
Second one they sent with a new cabinet.....did three cooks before it gave up the ghost. Third one was almost 50 below set point which meant the highest I could cook at was about 225. I gave up.
At least I have the cabinet. I married it to my Traeger to get some extra smoking space and just use the Traeger heat and smoke to go thru the MES box and, if I need more heat, I added an Auber PID to the MES.

Masterbuilt does have plenty of experience with customer support. How awful would it be answering phones daily for them???

That hybrid smoker is awesome geerock!

I'm sure they answer the phone something like this.....

"Good day this is Masterbuilt Customer Service......your new Controller, body, heating element and or door is on the way!!"

Hahahhahahahahahhahahahhahahhahahahahahahahahhahahahahaaaa!!! Cracking me up PardonMan!

Just to interject a thought here, you know every virus and Trojan in the world is directed at MS software, so they have the most problems. Why do you think that is?

Masterbuilt has the most bang for the buck, if you sell the most, you'll have the most problems. AND so far I have heard nothing but nice things about their CSR, they replace and ship to fix the problems and even the US manufacturers of 10K+ autos are constantly having recalls.

I have a Masterbuilt and to this day never had a problem, many, many on the boards are the same.

No one wants to buy something and find out it doesn't work, but I understand they do make things right, although sometimes it does take a bit of intestinal fortitude to wait it out.
