Morning.... So I was looking through the "hydroponics" stuff trying to figure out how to grow veggies without the back breaking job of weeding....... I keep looking at Piney's "garden" (what a misnomer), and here were these clips...... (click on pics to enlarge)

Clip them on twine......

Clip on the cage to support tomato vines..... they are going to be used on my cukes, when they finally grow....

Here is one on my mater.....

Someone's getting rich on this deal..... and deservedly so......

pretty sweet.....I know you are a very big gardener so probably not feasible for you but I switched to raised beds that I cover over in Fall with hoops and plastic so they are not hammered by the rains and warm quicker in the Spring. Slightly easier to control weeds but I wish they were waist high ...Willie

Willie, morning...... My garden is getting smaller..... moving to the apple bins and earth boxes..... probably some raised beds where the old garden was for garlic and corn.... and that should be it.... I've been thinking about hoops..... to get a jump on the weather..... we usually don't plant in the dirt until June 1st.... Too darn late for most stuff.....

Roger that....and your weather probably worse than mine. For the hoops I just used plastic irrigation tubing from Home Depot after pounding in some 3/4 " plastic pipe. Wal-Mart had some 3.5 mil plastic at a decent price and that was the covering. The local seed place had some plastic clamps that fit 1/2" and some for 3/4".....just snapped on, holding the plastic secure in the wind to the frame.

Amazon..... 2 cents each and 5 cents each for shipping ...... Don't that just frost your butt..... in a bag of 100..... so $7/100....

Also that is shipped in the USA I will have to double the shipping cost makes around $10/100...My labor costs would have to go up alot to make it worth while also the price of tomatos and that dont look very good in the near future.

Try ebay...... they are on there also..... maybe better shipping....... Dave

On ebay, an Israeli firm sells them and they are made in Israel..... soooooo, if you buy 10,000, you could get a sweet deal......

I will check that out for sure A friend of mine imports /exports to there.

I keep 16k tomato plants growing all year round.Anything that can save time and money is worth looking at.

16 K tomato plants........... Year around......... Give me a minute........ I'm trying to fathom 16,000 tomato plants......

I'm gonna take a guess here...... probably about 4 sq. ft. per plant, that includes walkways....... sooooo, about 64,000 sq. ft. of greenhouse to accommodate that crop..... probably most are fresh market..... trucks, airplane space, and a blender to make Bloody Mary's...

Do you dream tomatoes..... HAHAHAHAHA

OH !!!!!!! I guess 10,000 clips wouldn't even be close for the first order...... maybe 200,000 or more....

Maybe the Israeli's have a better system.... they are pretty much in the lead on growing stuff..... except for maybe Pineywoods...

All is fresh market picked 3 days a week.Picked and crated in the day time at the market by 3am.The pics above post #5 are my green houses and tomatoes.

I really dream of the day I sell that farm and grow no more produce.I am much happier raising my Cows and Coffee.

Dan

Dave I use those clips for tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers. Tomatoes on a string, cucumbers we use them to clip the vines to heavy duty netting, peppers I just clip them to fiberglass stakes.

Here's where I got mine  http://www.berryhilldrip.com/product.php?productid=10185

Wondering how they worked on the cucs? I bought a bunch of these and have been using them for 3 years on my tomato plants and they have worked superb. I just added cucumbers this year and never considered that I needed to support them as well.

I have been growing containers and while I am still using them to a point, I decided to increase the size of my garden and dug up a small plot in the back yard. Not all that much, but enough for Early Girl Tomatoes, Supersweet 100 tomatoes, 2 different types of sweet peppers, radishes, green beans and cucumbers.

Pickling cukes... they work good....   great big slicers, maybe not so well......   Give them a try....  nothing to lose....
